- Windows 64-bit machine
- .NET 8
- For VR mode, it currently only works using OpenXR
Installation
NotiFire Mobile App
The functionality of the NotiFire desktop app wholly depends on the notifications being forwarded from the NotiFire mobile app, you can find more information on the NotiFire Mobile App page.
NotiFire Desktop App
The NotiFire desktop app can be downloaded from the releases GitHub page.
.NET 8
- If you don’t already have .NET 8, Windows should prompt you on first launch about downloading it, but if it doesn’t and the application won’t start for some reason, follow the next step.
- Navigate to https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0 and download and install the latest .NET Desktop Runtime
General Information
- The common tab is applicable to both monitor and VR users
- Both Monitor Mode and VR Mode can be run simultaneously
- To get started up quickly, go to the Startup tab and select the intended IP address and port number you will be listening on and either decide to generate a new encryption key or use the default key that was generated on first launch.
- Launch the mobile app and select the quick setup option and scan the QR code from the desktop app and click Start Sending.
- For configuring the notification panel look and behavior, go to the Tests tab and turn on one of the tests to see a dummy panel and you can make live edits to the configuration
Monitor Mode Information
- To move the position of the notification panel, press CTRL+M when the notification is the visible and the focused window to unlock and press it again to lock.
- If this is an overlay for a game, make sure that you tick the Notification always on top button. However, you will not be able to click through it, so keep that in mind.
VR User Information
- The Tests tab notification panels work in VR too, but you can only see them and make adjustments when you are in-game/app (i.e. not merely in Virtual Desktop, but after you have launched an actual OpenXR application).
- It is highly recommended that you bind to a re-center button and re-center before you start tweaking position and rotation settings.
